Light Poured In and Shining (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 356)

John 1:10-11 (NLT)
He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.

If this were a world of pure goodness, we probably would need the expectation of going to heaven. If this were a world of light, it would be fairly easy to recognize the truth of Jesus amidst the fiction. But this is a world that is neither good or filled with light. And we have contributed to that condition. This is a world wrought with evil and darkness into which Jesus came to be the true light. Read more…

Difficult and Beautiful Work (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 315)

Genesis 2:15 (NLT)
The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

Ask almost any person on any given day what they look forward to doing most and you will hear the reverberating answer of retirement. They will tell you that they long for the day when they don’t have to hit the clock or rush to an office five days a week. Loved by Love (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 267)

1 John 4:8 (NLT)
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

When God created the world, he did so out of love. He couldn’t create it out of anything else because He is love. You were created as the outcome of God’s love. He made you so that he could love you and so you could love him. He wants all people to know what it feels like to be loved unconditionally and to love deeply. God is not a part of love or the embodiment of love. He is love completely and fully. Read more…

No Point of Termination (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 184)

No Point of Termination

Ecclesiastes 3:14 (NLT)
And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him.

The human mind has been created as such that we can only think to the point of an end. We are three-dimensional beings. We require boundaries. There is an end to our work. There is a goal line, a finish line to what we can do and accomplish. We cannot begin to think about infinity, but God can. There is even a point of termination to what we can think, create, dream, and envision.  Read more…

Joyful in Obedience (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 73)

Joyful in Obedience

Psalm 112:1 (NLT)
Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.

We have many reasons to praise the Lord in this life. The main reason is because He is worthy and deserves our thanks for the gifts He has given to us. Furthermore, those who express their appreciation to God are able to do so because they fear Him and are serving Him. We owe our happiness and joy completely to the abundant grace of God. God gave His own Son for us that we may have no excuse not to return the favor by giving ourselves to Him. Read more…
