Relationship Over Ritual (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 240)

Relationship Over Ritual

Hebrews 13:9 (NLT)
So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.

Too many people believe that following God involves abiding by a list of rules, rituals, and regulations. Of course, as believers there are certain things that we choose not to do and that the Holy Spirit helps us to refrain from doing. But in God’s kingdom, our maturity is not based upon how many rules we follow. Our existence and growth are based upon God’s grace. Read more…

Fear of People’s Disapproval Is Risky (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 207)

Fear of People’s Disapproval Is Risky

John 5:44 (NLT)
No wonder you can’t believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don’t care about the honor that comes from the one who alone is God.

When we seek the approval of people we end up not taking risks in faith. Fear itself is risky business. And when we don’t trust God, we fear the disapproval of people more than anything else. Growing Farther (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 144)

Growing Farther

John 3:3 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

It is a spiritual process of which the end result is eternal life. This process involves much more than going deeper. Being born again challenges us to go farther, to cultivate an experience that is defined by growth.  Read more…

Progress to Maturity (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 134)

Progress to Maturity

Hebrews 6:1a (NLT)
So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding.

Growing is a normal process of life. Not just of our physical lives, but also of our spiritual lives. We grow from babies to teenagers to adults. Likewise, as believers, we start as babies in the faith and go through a maturation process as we grow in our relationship with God. Read more…

It’s All About Growing (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 109)

It’s All About Growing

2 Peter 3:18 (NLT)
Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

Life is all about growing. And God made us to grow. He doesn’t want us to stay babies in our faith. He cares more about our spiritual growth than anything else. All throughout nature and humanity, we see signs of growth. Tiny seeds grow into big oak trees. Little children grow into adults. Every stage of life is an opportunity to grow, to give love, to develop character, to fulfill purpose, and to depend on God.  Read more…
