THE GREATEST RESPONSIBILITY (Live. Pray. Hustle. 05/21/17)
(Right-click to download)

The two greatest responsibilities and privileges in life are: loving and serving. Many problems exist in our lives and in the world, not because of a lack of money, food, shelter, compatibility, time, or meaning. It’s because we fail to love and refuse to serve.

12 Things We Tell Ourselves That Are Completely False (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 343)

“We all talk to ourselves. A major key to success exists in what we say to ourselves, which helps to shape our attitude and mindset.”
— Darren Johnson

The biggest obstacles in our lives are the ones we create. Our thoughts and our internal voices are powerful. More powerful than we realize. It directs our behavior, our attitudes, our intentions, and even our interactions. Ultimately, it determines whether we regress or make progress, go up or come crashing down, fail or succeed.

At every point in life, it is much easier to give in to lies, false realities, fantasy thoughts, delusions, illusions and magical thinking. The truth is, we don’t have to really do anything for these types of thoughts to creep in. And if we leave the doorway of our lives unguarded and unchecked, false ideas will pour in, wreak havoc in our minds and keep us back from obtaining the life we always wanted. Read more…

The Little Things We Do that Waste A Lot of Time (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 319)

“Clocks slay time… time is dead as long as it is being clicked off by little wheels; only when the clock stops does time come to life.”
— William Faulkner

The world we live in is practically overflowing with information, media sound bites, cable news, magazines, hot reads, and more stuff than we ever will have the time to look at or read, much less comprehend. In this fast-paced environment, it is highly likely that many of us find time to be a strange thing that seems to slip out of our hands just as fast as it comes into it. Read more…

The worst habit you can possibly develop is throwing pity parties for that which is completely in your control to change or make better.

Stop Being Self-Focused (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 295)

(30 Things To Stop Spending Time On If You Want to Be Successful #27)

“We all of us need to be toppled off the throne of self, my dear. Perched up there the tears of others are never upon our own cheek.”
— Elizabeth Goudge

The world is a circle and it revolves around me. This is the sad philosophy of many people in our society. We each sit on our little man-made thrones of self and dare anyone to knock us down. It is so characteristic of human nature and human inclinations. But much of what we do, if we were to really look at it and be honest, is in the best interest of us to the neglect of everyone else. Stop Sabotaging Your Progress (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 285)

(30 Things To Stop Spending Time On If You Want to Be Successful #17)

“Self-sabotage is when we say we want something and then go about making sure it doesn’t happen.”
— Alyce P. Cornyn Selby

Standing in the middle of a busy highway and knocking yourself over with your own car. Wanting to lose unnecessary weight but heading straight to the store for donuts and cupcakes each day after work. Trying to reach a goal or dream but shooting yourself in the foot. Cutting wordiness from a research paper and then putting every single word back in there and calling it ‘editing’. Read more…

Inside Work (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 279)

Galatians 5:24 (NLT)
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

It is so much easier to talk about self-denial and to admonish other people not to be selfish, self-congratulatory, or self-sufficient than it is to actually put that into practice in our daily lives. Dying to self is one of the biggest battles we must fight as believers. Being in Christ and allowing Christ to work in us and through us makes the victory just slightly easier to gain. Read more…

6 Ways We Fail at Progress (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 269)

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
— Buckminster Fuller

Everyone moves; very few make progress. Progress is not achieved by happenstance or osmosis or luck. It takes intentional, willful, purposeful work on your own mind and heart and soul every single day. Most people give up because the journey to achieving the progress they want looks so far away. All progress, however, is based on a deeply innate and universal desire to be and live beyond our comfort zones. If we channel it so, every mistake and every success is progress. Read more…
