Peace that Restores the Soul (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 364)

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Many people cannot point to a time when their lives are un-rushed, un-hurried, and un-ragged. Multiple studies point to the fact that we are living in one of the most overworked and overwhelmed generations. We rush to work, to school, to church, back home, to the sporting event, to the play, to the store, to the bank, to the salon, to the doctor, to the beach. And at the end of the day, we are no better off than when we started. Read more…

One More Chance (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 245)

One More Chance

Acts 13:22 (NLT)
But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’

There are times in all of our lives when we fail badly and need deep forgiveness. God in his mercy still uses those who return to him. Like Jonah, we all need a second chance. For some of us, it’s a third, fourth, or even fifth chance. God isn’t like people. He waits patiently and longs for us to return to him. As humans we require second chances and God is willing to oblige. Read more…

Restoring the Fallen (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 106)

Restoring the Fallen

Galatians 6:1 (NLT)
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

Throughout the Bible, Christians are exhorted to love, help, and serve one another. We are also admonished to not allow ourselves to fall prey to being perpetrators of passing judgment, condemnation, and gossip. This is a recurring command in Scripture because God wants us to reflect His love and humility in the world.  Read more…

Forgiven and Restored (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 72)

Forgiven and Restored

Joel 2:25 (NLT)
The Lord says, I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you.

Do you feel as though you have lost or wasted years of your life? Are there regrets that you wish you didn’t have? Or do you have burdens that you don’t want to bear? How about any hurts and hangups from the past? Does guilt and shame override your inner joy, strength, and sense of purpose? Read more…

Easter Focus Passage: Isaiah 61:1-3

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,

2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. Read more…

The Truth Works

When the last season of ABC’s hit show “Scandal” wrapped up a few months ago, it ended leaving a question in the viewers’ minds. Who leaked Olivia Pope’s ongoing secret affair with the president? Obviously, the secret was now out and Olivia Pope had to come up with a plan as to what she would do. When the third season debuted earlier this week, Pope found herself immersed in her own scandal. Knowing herself that other people know knew about the affair, she had to come to realization that her secrets would become public. When she made the decision to jump in front of the issue and address it herself, she said, “the truth works.” Read more…
