Relationship Over Rules Any Day (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 165)

Relationship Over Rules Any Day

Romans 7:7 (NLT)
Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”

Many people mistake a relationship with Christ for a list of rules that tell us to do this and not that. Nothing could be further from the truth. Man made religion and suggests that we live by it. However, God made relationship and gives us the choice to accept it or reject it. If we convince ourselves that doing good works and following the Ten Commandments is the way to salvation, we make a grave and unfortunate mistake.  Read more…

It Really Is Not About You

How quick we are to forget that the world does not center around us. In fact, nothing regarding life is really about us. Our problems and difficulties may seem large to us because they are ours. But all of our griping, complaining, and mumbling and grumbling about everything that is going wrong just does not make it right.

God is amazing. He is so amazing because He rarely chooses the most talented, the biggest, the strongest, the most gifted, the best looking, or the most spiritual. He never makes decisions based on our outer appearances or the abilities that He has given us. He subtly reminds us that it really is not about us. The Bible says, “In the beginning, God…” What if it said, “In the beginning, you…?” How different the whole course of history would be if it was all about us, if in the beginning, we did something.

A New Kind of Freedom to Celebrate

The Fourth of July is a federal holiday in America that commemorates the day in 1776 when we gained our independence as a nation from Great Britain. For centuries, men and women in countries all over the world have bravely fought for the right and privilege to be free. Lives have been lost, countries have been torn apart, families have been separated, and blood has been shed all in the name of freedom. Many people all over the world, and particularly on this day in America, share the same sentiment: it is far better to fight for freedom than to settle for bondage.

3 Ways to Handle Fear

Fear is a normal, innate response to physical and/or emotional danger. If we did not have a sense of fear, we could not protect ourselves from dangerous, threatening things, situations, and people. But, too often, we fear things and situations that are far from dangerous or threatening. We hide from reality, allowing things to overwhelm us and push us into a corner.

Fear was never meant to control us, trap us, suffocate us, or kill us. Fear, outside of normality, is ultimately meant to be overcome. We can deny fear, we can describe fear, or we can deal with fear. Here’s why: Read more…

Dealing With Frustration

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” -Isaiah 41:10

Everyone gets frustrated from time to time. Accidents, incidents, unexpected events, and other things happen that cause us to get frustrated. Not only can circumstances be frustrating, but people can be frustrating as well. Disagreements, misunderstandings, and differences come out from time to time in almost every relationship.

When God Gives Us Lemons

So often we hear the familiar phrase, “turn your lemons into lemonade.” This phrase means that when things go wrong in life, we should take the bad parts and make the best out of the situation. In other words, we should take our sour lemons and make sweet lemonade. If we are open to learning and to living life to the fullest, we will find that oftentimes life is never as bad as we think it is. Optimism on the inside always trumps pessimism that may exists on the outside.

7 Reasons God Never Fails

“The Lord…is righteous; he does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice, and every new day he does not fail…” (Zephaniah 3:5)

Isn’t is wonderful to know that God never fails? People around us fail; family and friends fail and disappoint from time to time. Everything is not always as we expect it to be. But when we think about God, we can be absolutely certain that God never fails. He is always on time, always available when we need Him, and is still with us when we think we can handle it on our own. The sun, moon, and stars shine at the right time every day. Morning and night change perfectly in every time zone. Nothing shocks or surprises God. He never sleeps or slumbers. Instead, He faithfully watches over us, guides us, leads us, and helps us in our time of trouble.

Being Bold In God

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
-2 Timothy 1:7

Do you fear taking the risk to do something you’ve never done before? Are you afraid of the unknown, failure, or making a mistake? Well, friend, God wants us to be bold in Him. As 2 Timothy 1:7 tells, God has not given us a spirit of fear. Fear paralyzes us and keeps us back from accomplishing the great things God has planned for our lives.
