Give us today the food we need.

God can see the end from the beginning, but He gives us just enough light, strength, grace, and provisions for this day. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not next month. Not next year. Not a decade from now. He wants us to trust Him for today. And then keep on trusting Him every day. Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.

David, who himself had his moments of destitution, fear, and begging for daily bread and for his life, testifies of a much higher level of living. Under God, he doesn’t witness a single soul being left in the cold or abandoned. Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

For most of us, when we were little, we didn’t really worry about basic necessities like food, clothes, or where money was going to come from to pay bills. As children, it wasn’t our job to be concerned with such things. We asked for what we wanted from our parents or older adults and siblings around us. And in our mind, it was their responsibility to get it.
