There are times in all of our lives when we will feel as though we won’t make it through. The upcoming major test. The impending divorce. The two weeks notice on your house. The pink slip on your desk. The red tag on your door. The cancer diagnosis. Each of these moments fills us with anxiety, frustration, and even anger. That’s it’s all not happening like we think it should. That it’s been a waste of time. That it’s unfair. Read more…

We are often blinded to connections. If we saw up-front how every step connected to the next step that creates the entire staircase to our destination, we might never get there. Because some steps are cracked, others are creaking, others have simply fallen through; very few are smooth and stable. But if you just keep going, if you just keep having faith, believing, trusting, praying, and working on your goals, one day, everything will click.

Trust Day by Day (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 363)

Matthew 6:11 (NLT)
Give us today the food we need.

God can see the end from the beginning, but He gives us just enough light, strength, grace, and provisions for this day. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not next month. Not next year. Not a decade from now. He wants us to trust Him for today. And then keep on trusting Him every day. Trust is not a one and done process; it is an active process that continues on and on in order for it to produce effective results in our lives. Read more…

Thoroughly Confident (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 355)

1 John 5:14 (NLT)
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.

It is comforting to know that we can talk to God at any time about anything and be confident that He is always there to listen. We can ask God for anything that we want in life and He has promised that He will give us those things that are in His will for us to have. God is like a good parent. He doesn’t give us all the things we want. He gives us the good things He knows are best for us. Read more…

We Knows He Hears Us and He Answers (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 354)

1 John 5:15 (NLT)
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

One of the most frustrating things in the world is to ask for something and never get it. God knows that his children want to receive an answer to their requests. Scripture tells us that since we know God hears us, we can also be assured that he will answer us and give us what we ask.

The enemy of our souls will try to make us think prayer is a waste of time. You’re praying about something and the devil comes alongside to whisper in your ear, ‘Prayer doesn’t really work. What do you think you’re doing. God is not going to listen to you. Get up and go to work. Find something better to do with your time than on your knees.’

In the Waiting Room (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 331)

Hebrews 6:15 (NLT)
Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.

When family and friends gather at the hospital for the birth of a child, what is the scariest part? The exciting part is that a new bundle of joy is on the way. But the scary part is waiting, in the waiting room, expectantly hopeful and shaking with nerves. And a large part of being a child of God is exactly like that — standing, sitting, on our knees waiting hopefully, and sometimes not as patiently as we should. Read more…

Moving Mount Everest (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 286)

Mark 11:22-23 (NLT)
Then Jesus said to the disciples, Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.

‘Faith’ is often thrown around in some religious circles as a magic potion for getting everything you want in life. It’s not a magic potion and shouldn’t be touted as such. But having faith does give you the assurance that your prayers have been heard and each day you live, there is the anticipation of a miracle just around the corner. Read more…

You Aren’t the Answer to Your Own Prayers (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 261)

Psalm 37:7a (NLT)
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.

What do we tend to do most when we’re waiting? We grumble, complain, and murmur about how long the line is, why there is so much traffic on a Monday, how disorganized management is, or how much time it is taking to get our order ready. We don’t really mind waiting so long as we can complain about the waiting period. Read more…
