We live our best lives when we own our attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions. Owning our issues makes us captain of our personal team. The ball is in our court; therefore, we get to decide what we do and how we react to what is done. We do not blame anything on our neighborhood, our parents, our environment, our government, or our spiritual leaders. Instead, we own the issues. We work to change what we can. And we do not let what can’t be changed interrupt our lives.

We’ve been conditioned to believe that other people have some sort of power over our lives. Governmental leaders, spiritual leaders, community leaders, and any type of “leader” you can think of really has no more power than you do. Therefore, you shouldn’t put your hope and faith in them. Sure, they can help you but they can’t control you unless you let them. You have the strength to stand on your own and fight for yourself. Nothing about your life depends on other people. It’s your life. It’s all up to you. Own it.

Turn On the Grace (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 255)

Ephesians 4:1 (NLT)
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

You need to know something in this life. You are never ever alone. You do not have to bear the burdens of the world in your own strength. You are valued, loved, and heard by God. God loves you — always has and always will. Nothing that you do or that happens in your life will keep God back from loving you and watching over you. Nothing can separate you from his love because it is through grace that he extends his love and peace to us. Read more…

Mortal As We Are (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 254)

“People living deeply have no fear of death.”
— Anaïs Nin

It’s not in our nature to have the control of our lives in someone else’s power. After all, we did, as a country, fight for independence. And individually, to this present moment, people are still fighting for the right to be free and to govern their lives according to how they see fit. There are very many things we can control in this life. What we eat, where we live, the religion we choose to embrace are all in our power to control. But death isn’t one of those things safely in our grip. Read more…

Infinitely More Dreams (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 212)

Infinitely More Dreams

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Faith is choosing to believe that God’s plan and purpose for your life is perfect. Faith also reveals your willingness to trust that plan and purpose as well as God’s timing. Nothing beings to happen in your life without trust, faith, and obedience. God gave you the ability to dream and to work for those dreams. Along with that you must ask for and receive his power to make those dreams a reality. Read more…

The Battle in the Mind (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 211)

The Battle in the Mind

“Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out.”
— Karl Augustus Menninger

One of the greatest battles you will ever fight is with your mental self. When we think of all the worst case scenarios that we could encounter in life, more than half of them are dreamed up in our minds. Much of life is a battle in the mind between the good forces that work for us and the bad forces that are obviously working against us. Read more…

3 Other Habits of Seriously Creative People (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 200)

3 Other Habits of Seriously Creative People

“The world is but a canvas to the imagination.”
— Henry David Thoreau

Creative people want to know many different things. They take time to culminate the past, the present, and the future into a mass of something that is universally useful and beautiful. Ideas take time to develop but once an idea has struck the right person at the right time and in the right element, the person who has been hit holds the magic power to transform, to improve, or to develop something out of usually nothing. Creative power lasts for as long as the idea is being worked on. It doesn’t really matter how long it takes or how hard it gets. A creative person has faith that this power will eventually turn into reality. Read more…
