7 Questions to Ask Yourself at the End of the Day (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 345)

“We thought that we had the answers, it was the questions we had wrong.”
— Bono

In my psychological research studies on perception, I have learned that a major part of conducting research is being able to ask the right questions in order to receive the right answers or a series of possible right answers. The same is true in every area of life. To make progress, you have to be willing to ask the right questions because asking the right questions will help you to keep discovering new ways of doing things and gain insight within your field. Making progress is hard work. It’s much easier to stay in one place, one position, with the covers over our head, pretending that we don’t exist. But after a while staying still begins to feel cramped and your insides start to push against your nerves. And you seriously find yourself yearning to move on to better things. When your guts get hot enough, dedication and commitment start to show. And that’s all you really need to push yourself to the reality that life moves on.  Read more…

But Tomorrow (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 48)

But Tomorrow

“Life always begins with one step outside of your comfort zone.”
— Shannon L. Alder

We have a tendency to do the easiest things first or to make pleasure our first priority. “I’ll have fun today, but tomorrow I’ll get down to work on my goals” is a common excuse. This is only okay to do in some very rare cases when one is disciplined and practices self-control in every area of life. But, for most of us, if we’re honest, it’s very hard to stop doing enjoyable activities and tackle the more uncomfortable tasks.  Read more…
