Set the Resolution but Get a Plan Together (Vita. Consilio. 01.04.17)

vitaconsilio010417

The start of a new year brings a jolt of reality and reflection for many people. After all, it is the perfect time to turn the page on bad habits, negative behaviors, and less-than-great relationships.

However, our track record on resolutions is pretty sorry. In a study of 3000 individuals, The University of Hertfordshire’s Richard Wiseman found that 88% of those studied broke their resolutions. And surprisingly, “Even people who resolved merely to “enjoy life more” failed 68% of the time.” Read more…

Plans and Wills (Soul. Musings. 01/03/17)

soulmusings010317

Of all the things that can offer satisfaction in life, reaching your goals would seem to be the most important. We all have goals but very few of us reach them. For whatever reason, we get sidetracked, we get lost, we let stuff get in the way. And we never get to where we think we should go yet still yearning deep on the inside for that real satisfaction. Set Your Compass and Go (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 219)

Set Your Compass and Go

Proverbs 13:16 (NLT)
All who are prudent act with knowledge, but fools expose their folly.

Plans for Good (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 168)

Plans for Good

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Insecurity and fear are mainstays in our society. If we’re not careful, they can overtake our lives. Too often we give permission to fear and allow it to ruin our confidence and hinder us from pursuing our purpose. God did not create us to give in to the grip of these emotions. God has amazingly good plans for us that we have yet to see realized. Read more…

When We’re Out of Control (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 68)

When We're Out of Control

Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

No one likes to wait. But have you ever wondered why waiting is necessary? When our plans don’t go as we would like, it’s a reminder that we are not always in control. Someone or something else is orchestrating what happens in our lives. We may not always be able to pinpoint who it is or what it is, but we can be assured that God delays us sometimes to show us His power and might in our lives. Read more…

Amazing Things Are In Store For You (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 33)

Amazing Things Are In Store For You

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT)
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”

God has amazing things planned for you. These things are beyond imagination, deeper than you ever thought would be possible. Your background, your mistakes, your pain, your upbringing, or your experiences cannot change anything God has in store for you. You may not see it or feel it all the time, but you must believe that it is true.
