How Insecurity Impedes Personal Growth (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 277)

“When you stop living your life based on what others think of you real life begins. At that moment, you will finally see the door of self acceptance opened.”
— Shannon L. Alder

Every person struggles with insecurities of some kind. If you’ve met a person who looks and acts confident, get them away from the cameras, and they will tell you that it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Some people are good at dealing with their insecurities honestly, and others are good at hiding behind a facade of pseudo-confidence. Read more…

3 More Ways We Hinder Our Own Growth (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 252)

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.”
— Abraham Maslow

The opportunity to grow is always before us. But not everyone takes the chance on an opportunity when it presents itself. When we don’t choose to grow (and growth is a choice), we miss out on important parts of our lives in which we wouldn’t otherwise improve. Nothing grows in isolation. It gives us freedom to do the things we should, or binds for doing the things we shouldn’t. It is by choice that we choose to grow inwardly, or by default, choose not to grow at all. Growth takes work and making the right choice is equally as hard. Nothing is more powerful than the ability to make the right decision, and at the same time, nothing can be more destructive than making the wrong one. Read more…

3 Novel Signs You’re Moving Forward (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 116)

3 Novel Signs You’re Moving Forward

“I am my own biggest critic. Before anyone else has criticized me, I have already criticized myself. But for the rest of my life, I am going to be with me and I don’t want to spend my life with someone who is always critical. So I am going to stop being my own critic. It’s high time that I accept all the great things about me.”
— C. Joybell C.

Growth is the sum total of eliminating positive habits and replacing negative thought patterns. There are many people who go through life trying to do this or be that, but they fail to grow. That is why they make the same mistakes and get the same results. Or, they look successful and privileged on the outside, but are turmoiled and pained on the inside. Life is given to us not only to succeed, but to grow in every way possible. Growth in and of itself is progress, and progress is always a good thing.  Read more…
