Give Other People a Break (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 337)

James 3:17 (NLT)
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

We live in a far from perfect world among far from perfect people with a far from perfect self. What most of us need to learn to give and to receive more than judgment, hatred and criticism is love, kindness, and mercy. It isn’t because we deserve it or because we feel other people deserve it but because that is what we need, and it is wise to give people what they need to get through life. Read more…

Pass the Forgiveness (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 321)

Colossians 3:13 (NLT)
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Isn’t it interesting how we are quick to ascribe positive intent to our own actions, motives, and thoughts but equally as quick to ascribe negative intent to the actions, motives, and thoughts of someone else. We have a tendency to make room for our own faults and failures but very little room to make the same allowance for other people who potentially do some of the same things. Read more…

3 Extra Brilliant Ways to Waste Your Life (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 242)

3 Extra Brilliant Ways to Waste Your Life

“Mistakes are a great educator when one is honest enough to admit them and willing to learn from them.”
— Alexander Solzhenitsyn

This is your life. Don’t waste it. This is your world. Don’t live in it without leaving something behind. There is more potential for opportunity and possibility than can be comprehended in a million lifetimes. But one will never know that if time is wasting away the precious life that has been given. We are surprised with good things that are sweeter than honey. And we are also blessed to encounter misfortune that brings with it another level of lessons. Nothing comes easily for that would be odd and boring. Be grateful that you get to live this life, overcome its thrilling hurdles, and achieve your goals even if it brings some pain to do so. You don’t have a life to waste; you have a life to live. Read more…

Half a Saint and Still a Sinner (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 238)

Half a Saint and Still a Sinner

Ecclesiastes 7:20 (NLT)
Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins.

In most parts of the world, people tend to idolize success. It is as if success is the end game, the ultimate outcome, the final result of everything one does in life. The pressure to always be perfect, to never encounter failure,  to, in a way, become part of an immaculate existence, creates stress on people to live a life that they were never created to live. From the time you were born, it was inevitable that you would sin and experience some form of pain or failure in life. Read more…

3 Brilliant Ways to Waste Your Life (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 237)

3 Brilliant Ways to Waste Your Life

“Don’t waste life in doubts and fears; spend yourself on the work before you, well assured that the right performance of this hour’s duties will be the best preparation for the hours and ages that will follow it.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

If we don’t believe in our goals, we will never reach them. If we only wish for things to get better, they will stay the same. If we don’t take action and make progress, we never get to where we want to go. If we don’t work for it hard enough, we’ll never get it. If we don’t learn to ask the right questions, we’ll always end up with the wrong answers or no answers at all. If we aren’t willing to find solutions, there will always be a problem. If we don’t have faith, we’ll be stuck in the same place dreaming about what could have been. Too many of us waste our lives doing all the wrongs things expecting to get to the right places. 3 More Warning Signs About the Company You Keep (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 234)

3 More Warning Signs About the Company You Keep

“Evil influence is like a nicotine patch, you cannot help but absorb what sticks to you.”
— E.A. Bucchianeri

It has been said that one can tell a lot about a person by the company he or she keeps. That is true to an extent. What is more difficult to tell is whether a person is generally good at his or her core or if that person is being influenced into a negative direction by external forces. The company we keep can be stepping stones or stumbling blocks. They can build us up or tear us apart. They can help us succeed or cause us to fail. Before you jump into a relationship with anybody in any arena of life, be sure you look out for any warning signs that many people avoid. Read more…

3 Small Signs You’re Doing Just Fine (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 140)

3 Small Signs You’re Doing Just Fine

“Forgive others, not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.”
— Jonathan Lockwood Huie

How many things are you able to do that you wouldn’t be able to do unless you were in the place you are in right now? If you can answer that question, you are doing better than you think. Maybe it is time for you to show appreciation for your gifts, talents, strengths, and abilities by using them to make a difference right where you are.  Read more…
