One Thing Is Lacking: Harmony (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 341)

one-thing-is-lacking-harmony

1 Corinthians 1:10 (NLT)
I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

If there is one thing lacking in homes, in schools, in families, and in society as a whole, it is that we very often do not “live in harmony with each other.” By the very same token, if there is one thing that could define society it is that there is a host of divisions among us, very few people even among believers are “of one mind, united in thought and purpose” to reflect hope and to do good in the world. 7 Ways Good People Destroy Their Love Lives (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 332)

“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”
— Carl Jung

Most of us don’t get the love we could have and even deserve because we do things to completely destroy how we get it. In a sense, we sabotage our own love lives by building walls instead of bridges, expecting too much, and not being willing to grow. Assumptions and expectations are a large part of what causes many relationships not to work; but it is also the things we consciously do such as being bitter, dishonesty, no communication, and pushing for the other person to be perfect that completely ruins it for us. 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NLT)
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

With Thanksgiving behind us, it is easy to think less and less about the many things we have to be thankful for. The holiday of Thanksgiving peaks our interest because it is a day set aside especially and specifically for that reason. But when the day is over, the thanks should still be there even as many people rush stores and wait in long lines to gather up more stuff hours after they just through being thankful for what they already have. Clothed in Something Beautiful (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 320)

Colossians 3:12 (NLT)
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

There are many opportunities throughout our lives in which we can develop patience and allow mercy, kindness, humility, and gentleness to be reflected in our attitudes and actions. One of those opportunities is no more evident than during the holiday season. For many people, it all seems like a blur with the shopping and traveling, gift-giving and cooking. Read more…

Struck by God’s Amazingness (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 311)

struck-by-gods-amazingness

Acts 17:24 (NLT)
He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples,

When people meet their favorite celebrity or athlete, they get a little star struck and surprised. Even if they knew they would meet them all along, they kind of stand in awe of their new reality. This event that is happening in their lives leaves an indelible mark on their psyche and for some, even changes their lives. Read more…

Love Expels All Fear (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 302)

1 John 4:18 (NLT)
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

Many people today live in fear. Fear of people. Fear of not being good enough. Fear of not having enough. Fear of not being able to trust, not being loved, or able to love. Fear of violence, crime, war, discrimination, and victimization. Fear of government overrule. Fear of other people’s opinions and not being liked or accepted. Fear of death. Read more…
