Start A Continuous Conversation (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 259)

Psalm 116:1-2 (NLT)
I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!

As believers, we grow in our relationship with God when we take the time to talk to him and to listen for him to speak to us. A relationship with God is similar to a relationship with any other human being. In order for the relationship to grow, mature, and be mutually beneficial, both parties must communicate with each other on a daily basis. And communication is not just talking, but also listening with the ears and with the heart. Read more…

4 Ways to Ensure We Listen Well (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 232)

4 Ways to Ensure We Listen Well

“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.”
— Bryant H. McGill

Most of our lives, we’re taught to speak well, clearly, and succinctly. But we’re not exactly taught to listen in a similar fashion. From giving a solo oral presentation in high school to participating on the debate team in college, we are well-versed in how to speak.

With such a value placed on good speakers, it is no surprise that most of us neglect to develop into good listeners. The School of Life explains four things people do to ensure good listening in the video below: Read more…

3 Total Ways We Sabotage Ourselves (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 170)

3 Total Ways We Sabotage Ourselves

“The most important conversation is the one you have with yourself.”
— Zig Ziglar

We can’t believe everything we hear, or everything that is said, or everything we think. Yet we so often do just that. It doesn’t really help us or get us anywhere especially when all of it is negative. And many times, the hearing and the saying and the thinking is what sabotages everything for us. But we control all that. Don’t we? Self-sabotage isn’t going to stop on its now. We have to do something to make it stop. The stopping starts with us. Read more…

Wisdom Listens (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 150)

Wisdom Listens

Proverbs 12:15 (NLT)
Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.

Wouldn’t it be great if we all could have our own minds, make our own decisions, and go down our own paths without having to consult with or seek advice from anyone? It’s a nice thought that smacks heavily of fierce independence. But what happens when our own way becomes blurry and we wonder where we are and why we’re actually here? Read more…

3 More Signs You’re Doing Just Fine (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 136)

3 More Signs You’re Doing Just Fine

“The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.”
— Ferdinand Foch

It is so easy to get consumed with what we haven’t achieved, what we don’t have, where we aren’t now, and who we aren’t like that we fail to realize the good things we have accomplished, the wonderful things and people we have, the place we are in now, and the beauty of who we are.  Read more…

Tuned Out (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 132)

Tuned Out

John 8:47 (NLT)
Anyone who belongs to God listens gladly to the words of God. But you don’t listen because you don’t belong to God.

What we hear has a significant impact upon our minds. What goes into our minds eventually turns up in our lives. What we do in our lives shows who we are and what we value. It is easier to accept whatever we hear without question and to always be tuned in to our environment.   Read more…

7 Ways to Be Amazingly Confident (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 85)

7 Ways to Be Amazingly Confident

“When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things.”
— Joe Namath

Confidence is something that every person should have in moderate doses. Too much confidence can make you come off as arrogant, cocky, and unable to recover from obstacles and setbacks. Too little of it, on the other hand, can cause you to avoid people and opportunities that would otherwise benefit you, make you yield to fear, and set you up to never achieve at your highest potential. Getting to the right level of confidence is a balance, but you can get there.

Here are 7 ways to develop amazing confidence in your life: Read more…

Beware of a person who is talking with their mouths and their minds at the same time. They’re not listening to you.
