Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Social media is filled with words and photos about self-encouragement. Many talk shows and self-help books largely give advice about the self — how to manage, how to feel empowered, how to be uplifted every day of the week. Why are encouragement and empowerment a crucial part of our culture? Because everyone needs it. Read more…

Bloom Here Now

“Let me tell ya. You gotta pay attention to signs. When life reaches out with a moment like this, it’s a sin if you don’t reach back.”

Don’t Be Fooled By the Rocks that I Got

“Don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got

Used to have a little, now I have a lot
No matter where I go, I know where I came from.”
— Jennifer Lopez

Never forget where you come from. This is the simple, yet powerful message that Jennifer Lopez raps about in her 2002 song “Jenny from the Block”. Essentially, this song is about Lopez’s difficult upbringing, how she has not changed despite her fame, and never forgets who she is and where she came from (The Bronx). This song is also a testament to how our struggles make us into the people we are today. Without our struggles, who would we be?

There Is No Magic (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 15)

There Is No Magic

“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.”
— Babe Ruth

How many people do you know who have gotten anywhere in life and done anything worthwhile got there by playing tiddlywinks with their fingers? I would like to know. I would like to meet these people so my life can perhaps be just as easy as theirs is.

More than likely, your answer is none. The people who get anywhere in life and who do anything worthwhile often get there by hard work. Hard work didn’t kill them. Hard work helped to create them. And while few people put their heads down to the grindstone and work at whatever great thing they are doing or creating, many, many people are content to stand by and applaud them.
