8 Ways To Keep Your Feet On the Ground When Everything Else Is Out of Control (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 364)

8-ways-to-keep-your-feet-on-the-ground-when-everything-else-is-out-of-control

“You don’t have to control your thoughts; you just have to stop letting them control you.”
— Dan Millman

Several studies point to the fact that we are living in one of the most stressed and overworked generations. More people are busier than ever and sometimes feel as though they are not getting any closer to their goals. When everything seems to be spinning out of control, sticking to goals and not yielding to stress can feel like a tall order.

However, it really is possible to not let the stress and pressure of everyday life get to us. We can handle things, even the very hard stuff by developing habits that keep our feet on the ground and our mind focused on the big picture. Here are 8 ways to do that: Read more…

“We only have what we give.”
— Isabel Allende

Tragedy has a way of playing both sides of the same coin. On one side, it causes us to feel infinite grief, unbearable heartache, and crushing pain. But on the other side, it forces us to do something about what we are feeling. It weakens us and gives us strength at the same time. This is why we find beauty rising from ashes and new purpose coming forth out of pain. Everyone has a story of some kind that forms the foundation for what they do in life. Read more…

Search for Help in the Right Place (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 200)

Search for Help in the Right Place

Matthew 14:29-30 (NLT)
“Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.

We turn on the news and deafen our ears to the 53 people killed in some country we’ve never been to. The pain of someone else seems so far away until it happens to us. The phone rings and a crying voice is on the other end telling you of a loss or tragedy someone has just encountered. When pain hits home, it can stop us in our tracks and cause us to really pay attention.  Read more…

3 Signs You’re Doing Just Fine (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 135)

3 Signs You’re Doing Just Fine

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
— Mahatma Gandhi

In a world of comparisons, it is easy to feel like you don’t measure up. Everyone else always seems better, faster, smarter, stronger, more talented, or more liked. But if you really look at it, that isn’t so.

Here are 3 signs you’re doing just fine: Read more…

Help From Above (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 130)

Help From Above

Psalm 121:1-2 (NLT)
I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

We need help! There are many times we may feel as though we can’t do what God has called us to do. We may feel like we don’t have enough talent, enough strength, or enough qualifications. There is a lot of truth to these feelings. Whatever God has called you to do, there is no way possible you can do it without Him. Read more…

God Will Give You Strength

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10, NIV)

Fear comes against all of us at one point or another in our lives. Whether it is moving to a new city, changing careers, getting married, or just starting life over, fear will meet us somewhere along the way. God wants us to know, however, that He us with us at all times and in all places. We do not have to allow fear to defeat us or hold us hostage from living in the freedom and joy of life. In the face of fear, we can still move forward and be victorious. Read more…
