Doing Right Leads to Happiness (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 340)

Philippians 1:18 (NLT)
But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.

Happiness is not determined by what other people do or say, whether you are treated good or ill, whether you are criticized or talked about, whether people are working with you or against you. The motives, intentions, and actions of other people cannot be the deciding factor in whether you have a happy life. If you allow people to determine your happiness or look to them as the source of your happiness, you will be disappointed over and over again. Read more…

20 Things To Learn When You’re Under 30 (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 331)

“The difference between school and life? In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson.”
— Tom Bodett

When you’re a child, your parents pretty much stick up for you, comfort you in hard times, and cover for you when you get into the slightest messes. When you’re a teenager, your friends do the same things for you and you for them. But when you’re 20-something, you really learn how difficult things can be. You know at this time in your life, you need to be mature because you’re not a kid or a teenager anymore — you’re an adult. Read more…

3 Extra Fears that Hold Us Back (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 260)

“Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it.”
— Judy Blume

Overcoming any type of fear can be challenging. Fear is not visible but it exists in our minds and is made evident through our actions. We give fear human characteristics and even a personality without giving any thought to the effect it can have on us. We don’t have to give fear life. Sometimes there is something wrong and all we can do is deal with it. Most times, there is nothing really wrong, and we act out of anger, disappointment, or stress anyway. You have the power to create a life where fear does not play a role. When you conquer your fears, you liberate your life. Read more…

If You Want To Go Far … (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 194)

If You Want To Go Far…

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”
— Helen Keller

In Africa, there is a proverb that says, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” The lone ranger mentality may work on some occasions such as when one has to stand alone. But if you’re looking to get things done in life, you must engage other people.  Read more…

3 Plain Signs You’re Moving Forward (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 122)

3 Plain Signs You’re Moving Forward

“Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence.”
— Vince Lombardi

You can’t always see progress. It may seem that you are working as hard and as fast as you can, but with little results. It is important to understand that progress often takes a while to catch up with all your work. But it will catch up at some time. As long as you keep working and getting better and doing your very best, your work will turn into progress and eventual success. If it feels like time has stopped, know that it hasn’t. So long as you are making progress the time you spend does not matter. Someone once said, “When things don’t happen right away just remember, it takes 6 months to build a Rolls-Royce and 13 hours to build a Toyota.”  Read more…

But Take Heart (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 91)

But Take Heart

John 16:33 (NLT)
Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Throughout the world today, there are many people who live in fear. They feel guilty about the past, worried about the present, and are afraid of the future. This spirit of fear keeps them bound and acts as a deterrent and excuse for them to not live the life God has designed for them.  Read more…

A Great Adventure (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 17)

A Great Adventure

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a Ride!’”
— Hunter S. Thompson

The biggest adventure you will ever experience is living your life to the full. Everyone has been given an opportunity to live, but not everyone has chosen to make good on it. You were not made to just exist or to watch the world pass by. You were made for a plan and a purpose.
