We’re Are In the Family (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 344)

Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

One human need that is common throughout all of humanity is the desire to belong. All people want to belong to a family because it means we are loved, valued, and worthy. Even God wanted more than a physical world with plants and animals. He wanted people. He didn’t want to be alone. And that is why He created and continues to create boys and girls, men and women so that He can have the biggest family possible. The main reason we exist is to join God’s heavenly family. Flawed and Fruitful (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 299)

1 Corinthians 13:10 (NLT)
But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.

As humans, we long for that which is perfect. We strive for the perfect job, the perfect marriage, the perfect house, the perfect family, the perfect image. All of this is mostly an attempt to avoid facing our identity which means coming face to face with our flaws and owning them. What it really means is that we’re longing and searching for heaven to be our home. Read more…

From Life to Life to Life (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 264)

Romans 8:11 (NLT)
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

For believers, life continues on. We have hope and assurance that we are going to live forever. Death is not the end of the story. In fact, there is no end to this brilliant story at all. We live and transition from life to life to life. One day, your lungs will cease to pump air and your heart will stop beating. But that will only be the end of your physical existence; your soul will live on. Read more…

Your Will Be Done Leads to Trust (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 258)

Matthew 6:10 (NLT)
May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

God has a specific plan and purpose for each and every one of our lives. The Bible tells us that his ways are good and his plans are perfect. Part of being a believer and a participant in God’s family is being willing to search out God’s will and to allow his will to be done even when we don’t understand it and it seemingly doesn’t make sense. Faith Covered in Imagination (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 246)

Faith Covered in Imagination

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT)
So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

We can’t see ideas but we know that they exist because we develop them in our minds and result in all the things we see in the world. We can’t see the blood vessels that run throughout our body or our bones and muscles but we know that they are there, otherwise we would not be alive. We can’t see our heart, but every breath we take reminds us that it is beating. We can’t see God but we know that he exists by faith. We imagine that he is in Heaven and he cares for us and loves us. You Don’t Have to Work a Day in Your Life (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 235)

You Don’t Have to Work a Day in Your Life

Romans 11:6 (NLT)
And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.

Ask the average person what it would take to go to Heaven and you’re bound to get a thousand different answers. Some might say that one has to work extremely hard. Others might say that one has to give to charity on a regular basis, help the poor in any way possible, feed the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Other people might say that one has to be kind, loving, patient, and generous. Still others might say that your good deeds must outweigh your bad ones before you can enter the pearly white gates. The Deep Well

Matthew 5:3 (NLT)
God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Jesus Just Like Us (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 164)

Jesus Just Like Us

John 1:14 (NLT)
So the Word became human and made his home among us.

When we think about Jesus, what are some of the first things that cross our minds? Maybe we think about Christmas and the baby in the manger. Perhaps some of us think about His death, burial, and resurrection. Or do we reflect on His goodness, grace, love, and mercy. Maybe the reality of His power is made evident in our lives. Read more…
