I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

If there is one thing lacking in homes, in schools, in families, and in society as a whole, it is that we very often do not “live in harmony with each other.” By the very same token, if there is one thing that could define society it is that there is a host of divisions among us, very few people even among believers are “of one mind, united in thought and purpose” to reflect hope and to do good in the world.
