Why ‘Wonderful’ and ‘Perfect’ Leaves So Many People Unsatisfied (Vita. Consilio. 05.19.17)

How is it that some people can seemingly have it all in life but still end up unsatisfied and unhappy?

Let me tell you a story about Rebbie. Read more…

Guest Post by Megha Shah: Hustle Your Way to the Finish Line (Vita. Consilio. 03.21.17)

Over the last few years, if there is anything I have learned, it is that there is no such thing as ‘luck’.

Luck is just an excuse made by those who are unwilling to work but wish to achieve all the success there is. We all know the saying – “the only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.” This is true and must be a guiding principle for you if you wish to achieve great success in any endeavor you pursue. That One Mammoth All-Consuming Life Goal (Vita. Consilio. 03.20.17)

If there is one thing that life will teach you, it is that you cannot do everything.

Our society is plagued with a superman and superwoman complex. It is the false belief that one person can be all things to all people at all times and in all situations — perfectly. The ability to do more than one thing at any given time is the ideal, and it is celebrated. Read more…

WORK (Live. Pray. Hustle. 02/21/17)

We all have to work. Nothing happens without it. But work is extremely more enjoyable and meaningful when it is directed toward a goal. Work for the sake of work is usually unfulfilling. It is only a means to pass time and make money. Work that results in achievement demands that we put that much more effort into it. When we’re excited about where we’re going, we are more likely to do whatever it takes to get there.

Chapter by Chapter (Vita. Consilio. 02.02.17)

Someone once described life to be like the chapters of a book. I can’t disagree with that assessment. Every chapter is dedicated to a scene. And a series of chapters make up the whole story. Without those scenes, there would be no interesting story to read.

Life is the same way. Life doesn’t happen all at once. It has a rhythm and reason to it. One event follows after another event. There is a sequence, a chain of actions, which afford us order, logical, and sense. As much as we’d like for there to be no timeline, there is. Read more…

Give Great Effort to Pursuing Good Goals (Vita. Consilio. 01.11.17)

VC011117

When I was a child, one of my uncles showed me how to ride a bike. He thought it would be a cool idea to test my skills out on the gravel and dirt roads between his house and my grandmother’s house. I can’t say I was good at it, but it was fun after I got the hang of it.

One of the things he told me about bike riding is that you can’t focus on the obstacles. Every little rock or piece of glass in the road isn’t going to puncture your wheels. You have to stay focused on where you’re going, not what you’re trying to avoid. Read more…

To Hit a Target, You Have To Have a Target to Hit (Vita. Consilio. 01.08.17)

vc010817

Imagine that you were given a bow and arrow but not given a target. Where would you aim the arrow? Probably nowhere in particular, just anywhere in the random open space.

And let’s say you did shoot in any direction at random. Why did you shoot in that direction instead of another direction? What was the purpose of aiming left instead of right? Another question could be what is the outcome of aiming there instead of here? Read more…

We are often blinded to connections. If we saw up-front how every step connected to the next step that creates the entire staircase to our destination, we might never get there. Because some steps are cracked, others are creaking, others have simply fallen through; very few are smooth and stable. But if you just keep going, if you just keep having faith, believing, trusting, praying, and working on your goals, one day, everything will click.
