The gift of Jesus Christ to humankind is the greatest gift ever given. But it is not the only gift. Just Ask (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 353)

Matthew 7:11 (NLT)
So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

God is the source of every good and perfect gift in the world. All the things you see and even the things you can’t see are a result of God’s goodness and grace in the universe. God said in Genesis that what he created was good. He gave it to us as a gift of his divine providence. If we as mere humans love to give gifts to the people we love, God loves to give gifts a million times more than that. Read more…

I’m Not a Fan of Favors…So This Is a Gift (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 350)

“Presents are made for the pleasure of who gives them, not the merits of who receives them.”
— Carlos Ruiz Zafón

We have this thing in modern society where we have such a love affair with cutting deals with each other and giving only in order to get. You know how it goes, right? You attend my event, I attend yours. You write a kind word about me on Instagram and I do the same for you. I listen to you speak for ten minutes so then you will owe me ten minutes of listening when I speak too. Read more…

The Expensive Gift (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 236)

The Expensive Gift

Romans 5:15 (NLT)
But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.

Everyone knows that if someone gives you something with no strings attached, that gift will be free to you, but it cost the giver something to get it. The same can be said of grace. God’s grace is completely free to all of His creation, but it cost Jesus Christ His life. Because God was willing to give up His Son so every soul that enters the world can have a chance at a beautiful eternal life, we have this free gift called grace. Read more…

You Don’t Have to Work a Day in Your Life (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 235)

You Don’t Have to Work a Day in Your Life

Romans 11:6 (NLT)
And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.

Ask the average person what it would take to go to Heaven and you’re bound to get a thousand different answers. Some might say that one has to work extremely hard. Others might say that one has to give to charity on a regular basis, help the poor in any way possible, feed the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Other people might say that one has to be kind, loving, patient, and generous. Still others might say that your good deeds must outweigh your bad ones before you can enter the pearly white gates. It Is All A Gift (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 204)

It Is All A Gift

1 Corinthians 4:7 (NLT)
What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?

Everything you and I have is a gift from God. This is why He doesn’t want us to compete with other people or compare what we have to what someone else has. When we envy other people, we tell God how unhappy we are with His will for our lives. Instead of wishing for what someone else has, we need to remind ourselves that God has given us everything we need in life. Read more…

You Don’t Have to Work (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 162)

You Don’t Have to Work

Ephesians 2:8 (NLT)
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Why is it that we feel as though we have to do something when it comes to our faith and spirituality? We want to feel like we have earned it. Earning something or putting in extra effort to obtain something gives us certain bragging rights. Making that extra push, getting that extra sale, closing on that new deal makes us feel important. Who doesn’t like bragging every now and then? Read more…
