Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

It is so much easier to talk about self-denial and to admonish other people not to be selfish, self-congratulatory, or self-sufficient than it is to actually put that into practice in our daily lives. Dying to self is one of the biggest battles we must fight as believers. Being in Christ and allowing Christ to work in us and through us makes the victory just slightly easier to gain. Read more…

Removing Spiritual Roadblocks

Mark 9:43 (NLT)
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands.

The story is told of a man who set out to sail around the world. Some time during his adventure, his sailboat hit a large rock that was invisible from the surface. For days, he wandered with his broken boat until he reach a small patch of land.

Once he reached land, with little food and clean water, he lay on the dirt for a nap. At some point during the night, a snake bit his foot to the point where he could not walk at all. The pain was excruciating; his attempt to apply what little medical knowledge he had only seemed to make it worse. After a while, he decided that in order to survive until help came, he had to cut his foot off. Read more…
