Kissing the Day Goodbye (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 294)

kissing-the-day-goodbye

Psalm 126:5-6 (NLT)
Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.

Why do farmers continue to plant seeds and willingly wait over a long period of time to reap a harvest? Planting is really a thankless job largely because there is no immediate proof or evidence that anything good will come out of the effort. But that’s the thing about planting: Farmers sow in faith expecting to reap a harvest. Read more…

Mortal As We Are (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 254)

mortal-as-we-are

“People living deeply have no fear of death.”
— Anaïs Nin

It’s not in our nature to have the control of our lives in someone else’s power. After all, we did, as a country, fight for independence. And individually, to this present moment, people are still fighting for the right to be free and to govern their lives according to how they see fit. There are very many things we can control in this life. What we eat, where we live, the religion we choose to embrace are all in our power to control. But death isn’t one of those things safely in our grip. Read more…

3 Other Warning Signs About the Company You Keep (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 235)

3 Other Warning Signs About the Company You Keep

“Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings and emotions.”
— Will Smith

Negative thoughts hold the power to ruin us, but equally, do negative people. Sometimes it isn’t our thoughts that kill us, but the negative people we allow to get to us. When we should extract people from our lives, we don’t because we don’t want to hurt their feelings or break up long-standing relationships no matter how draining they are. But if we never make the trek across that bridge, we may never get to where we attempted to go in the first place, and that is how regret develops. Read more…

7 Things To Do When You’re Feeling Stuck (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 225)

7 Things To Do When You’re Feeling Stuck

“Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.”
— Mandy Hale

Too many people are not happy with their lives. They feel dissatisfied, stuck, and even trapped. A lot of these people don’t realize they have the power to change their feelings and their thoughts and as a result change their lives. No one or nothing can control your life unless you let it. You have the power to respond to life in positive ways and use your mind and behavior to get unstuck and live the life you were created to live. Read more…

No One Else Is Living Your Dream (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 216)

No One Else Is Living Your Dream

“One of the sanest, surest, and most generous joys of life comes from being happy over the good fortune of others.”
— Archibald Rutledge

We’ve been taught that envy and jealousy are destructive attitudes to have. The truth is, they really are. When you spend your time and spin your energy focusing on someone else’s life instead of your own, you are wasting precious time and energy doing something that you have no control over. If there’s a slim chance you are jealous of someone else, it might be time to turn your attention to something else. Read more…

Humanity’s Highest Social Intelligence (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 191)

Humanity’s Highest Social Intelligence

“Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another, and feeling with the heart of another.”
— Alfred Adler

Empathy is the emotional connectivity that we all share to experience and understand another person’s pain, position, and perspective. You place yourself in another person’s shoes to feel what they are feeling, hear what they are hearing, and see what they are seeing. And for at least a little while, empathy allows us to live what someone else is living. Read more…

Go with the Flow (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 178)

Go with the Flow

Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

The philosophy that many people guide their lives by is to “follow your feelings.” Go with what feels natural. Follow your instincts; let your heart lead you. But our feelings aren’t always right. The only time we can really trust our feelings is when we are in the will of God. When we know we are doing God’s will, our feelings will fall in line. Read more…

3 Viable Signs You’re Doing Just Fine (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 162)

3 Viable Signs You’re Doing Just Fine

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

On some days — most days — you’re not going to see anything. You’re not even going to feel anything. No light. No sunshine. No rainbows. No clearing. Nothing. You can be working and doing all the right things but sense that nothing will really come of it. But just at the very moment when everything seems silenced and every door seems closed and you’re about to give up, you will see a little glimmer of light, a little ray of sunshine, the end of a rainbow, the start of a path in the near distance, and that will be your sign to keep moving, keep working, keep going until suddenly something just happens.  Read more…
