Knowing how to make progress is never so important as when we’re not making progress. Motivation is built upon being able to feel ourselves making progress. There is nothing bad about that at all. Without this essential feeling, we easily get stuck in ruts and routine. Like the hamster spinning on a wheel, we only go fast but get nowhere. Without the beautiful feeling that we are moving forward in some way, we are liable to give up. What’s the point in trying if we not moving in a forward direction?
