I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

If there is one thing lacking in homes, in schools, in families, and in society as a whole, it is that we very often do not “live in harmony with each other.” By the very same token, if there is one thing that could define society it is that there is a host of divisions among us, very few people even among believers are “of one mind, united in thought and purpose” to reflect hope and to do good in the world. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

God’s character and heart are set at the temperature of righteousness and justice. When righteousness and justice are lacking, tyranny and chaos are the result. A striving towards doing what is right, fair, and equitable begins with a hunger and thirst for those things.
