Sitzfleisch (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 249)

“Stubbornly persist, and you will find that the limits of your stubbornness go well beyond the stubbornness of your limits.”
— Robert Brault

Persistence and perseverance are often used interchangeably. While they are very similar in many ways, there are a few small differences that can change how you live your life. Persistence will tell you when you’re illogically pursuing something that is already a lost cause. Perseverance, on the other hand, will keep you calm and steady pursuing a goal that is meaningful. 3 Possible Signs You’re Moving Forward (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 130)

3 Possible Signs You’re Moving Forward

“The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do.”
— Kobe Bryant

Commitment determines whether or not we will succeed. Success in anything can only be experience by persistence. To push forward, prevail, and be victorious is the stuff life is made of. One cannot expect to move forward in any capacity without first going through moments of struggle. Almost, but not quite, is never good enough. Many people with the best intentions start, but very few people finish.  Read more…

Intentional Determination (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 105)

Intentional Determination

Nehemiah 6:9 (NLT)
They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination.

A powerful life is one that has a positive impact on the lives of other people. In order to live such a life, we must act on the purpose God has given to us. Instead of waiting for a perfect time or someday in the future to arrive, when we take action, we show our determination to fulfill God’s good plan for us in the world. Though people may try to intimidate us and get us to quit, we don’t give in to that; we continue on anyway.  Read more…

Don’t Pray for Ease, Pray for Strength (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 90)

Don’t Pray for Ease Pray for Strength

“Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.”
— Bruce Lee

If life were easy, we would all be living it. But many people don’t really live their lives because they don’t know what it is like to endure difficulty. Hardship of some kind is necessary in order for us to see how strong we are and to appreciate success when it comes our way. To be successful at something does not always imply ease or wealth. It could simply mean being better than everyone else at one thing.  Read more…

You Can Handle This (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 79)

You Can Handle This

“If you’re going through hell, keep going.”
— Winston Churchill

There is something you ought to know about life. It is this: there is nothing that will come your way that you ultimately cannot handle. At first, you may not be able to feel it, see it, sense it, or understand it. You may not even believe it. But everything you go through is necessary for your growth and development. Read more…

Showing Up Is Half the Work (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 78)

Showing Up Is Half the Work

“What you do every day matters more than what you do every once in a while.”
— Gretchen Rubin

Consistent, dedicated performance determines the quality, longevity, and outcome of our lives and relationships. Consistency in life is the door through which trust walks and takes up residence. If you do not develop some consistency, stability, and genuine honesty in your life and about what you do, you cannot expect to succeed, or at the very least, stay successful. Becoming successful requires perseverance; staying successful requires consistency. Read more…

Big Dreams Are a Big Deal

I believe that one of the main reasons so many people don’t get ahead in life is because they do not know the value of setting goals and sticking with their dreams. Dreams are a big deal, but fulfilling those dreams is an even bigger deal. In order to fulfill your dreams, you must set some clearly defined goals. Setting goals for your life and sticking to them no matter what will take perseverance, determination, and hard work. Read more…
