Many times, we feel as though darkness is all around us. When things are bad enough, they seem to get even worse. When the pathway of our journey is dimly lit and we feel like there is no more hope, at that point, we must begin to anticipate something more. We have to begin to expect that something great is going to happen. The people who believed in Jesus had hope on the inside that something absolutely wonderful and amazing was about to happen.

Treasures Hidden in Darkness (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 361)

Isaiah 45:3 (NLT)
And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.

The story is told of how lace shops in Brussels spin the finest threads to make delicate lace. There are special rooms that are totally dark except for a little light let in through a small window. One spinner sits in the room alone, weaving threads of lace only under where the little bit of light can shine on the weaving process. As it turns out, the most beautiful lace is created in the dark with only a narrow stream of light. Read more…

Light Poured In and Shining (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 356)

John 1:10-11 (NLT)
He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.

Physical light helps us to see. Spiritual light helps us to see and to understand. Read more…

Be the Light for Somebody Else

Unfortunately, our world is filled with a great deal of sadness, hurt, pain, and death. We don’t have to live long or look far to realize that we are not living in a perfect world. People hurt on the inside and the outside. Some grieve openly while others choose to grieve privately. Some people see the world through dark colored lens while others are unable to see the world at all. Through no fault of their own, many children are born into poverty, illiteracy, war, and violence. They know no other world but the one they have lived in all their lives.

10 Reasons Why Good Friday Is So Good

1. Good Friday is so good because it teaches us how to love. Love is one of the greatest forces in the world. Nothing is made more evident and more real to us than Jesus death on the cross. Jesus showed His love, He prove His love, not just with words, but with actions. By Jesus’ example of unconditional love for us, He indirectly showed us how to love one another.

Up Higher
