We’ve been conditioned to believe that other people have some sort of power over our lives. Governmental leaders, spiritual leaders, community leaders, and any type of “leader” you can think of really has no more power than you do. Therefore, you shouldn’t put your hope and faith in them. Sure, they can help you but they can’t control you unless you let them. You have the strength to stand on your own and fight for yourself. Nothing about your life depends on other people. It’s your life. It’s all up to you. Own it.

8 Ways To Keep Your Feet On the Ground When Everything Else Is Out of Control (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 364)

“You don’t have to control your thoughts; you just have to stop letting them control you.”
— Dan Millman

Several studies point to the fact that we are living in one of the most stressed and overworked generations. More people are busier than ever and sometimes feel as though they are not getting any closer to their goals. When everything seems to be spinning out of control, sticking to goals and not yielding to stress can feel like a tall order.

However, it really is possible to not let the stress and pressure of everyday life get to us. We can handle things, even the very hard stuff by developing habits that keep our feet on the ground and our mind focused on the big picture. Here are 8 ways to do that: Read more…

12 Things We Tell Ourselves That Are Completely False (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 343)

“We all talk to ourselves. A major key to success exists in what we say to ourselves, which helps to shape our attitude and mindset.”
— Darren Johnson

The biggest obstacles in our lives are the ones we create. Our thoughts and our internal voices are powerful. More powerful than we realize. It directs our behavior, our attitudes, our intentions, and even our interactions. Ultimately, it determines whether we regress or make progress, go up or come crashing down, fail or succeed.

At every point in life, it is much easier to give in to lies, false realities, fantasy thoughts, delusions, illusions and magical thinking. The truth is, we don’t have to really do anything for these types of thoughts to creep in. And if we leave the doorway of our lives unguarded and unchecked, false ideas will pour in, wreak havoc in our minds and keep us back from obtaining the life we always wanted. Read more…

All Of Me (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 319)

Psalm 25:1 (NLT)
O Lord, I give my life to you.

Control and surrender are on opposite ends of the see-saw for the children of God. On one side and in one part of us, we want to set our agendas, push our plans and wills through, dominate what goes on in our lives, and command ourselves. On the other side of us, the believing side, we want to give everything about us to the only Person who is really concerned about it. We want him to regulate and dominate and to do that we have to surrender. Read more…

The Future Is Under Someone’s Control (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 303)

Job 12:10 (NLT)
For the life of every living thing is in his hand, and the breath of every human being.

One of the greatest commonalities among all mankind is that we fear. Fear is a universal indicator that we are human. The greatest thing that we fear is the future. We fear the future for the sake of our families, our friends, our careers, and our own personal livelihood. And we fear largely because we are not in control. Read more…

The Grace Solution (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 274)

Proverbs 29:11 (NLT)
Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

There are a host of things you can’t control in this life. You can’t control the color of your school, where you were born, or who your parents are. You can’t control what happens to you on a daily basis, what people say or think, or the situations you encounter. You also can’t control the way you look, how tall or short you are, or your past. Many people waste time trying to control the things and the people that are simply beyond their power. Read more…

Mortal As We Are (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 254)

“People living deeply have no fear of death.”
— Anaïs Nin

It’s not in our nature to have the control of our lives in someone else’s power. After all, we did, as a country, fight for independence. And individually, to this present moment, people are still fighting for the right to be free and to govern their lives according to how they see fit. There are very many things we can control in this life. What we eat, where we live, the religion we choose to embrace are all in our power to control. But death isn’t one of those things safely in our grip. Read more…
