REASONS (Live. Pray. Hustle. 02/19/17)

We’ve been told that all things happen for a reason but sometimes that is hard to believe especially when you have no clue as to what the reason is and Why? Why? Why? is the question reverberating in our heads. But I’m here to tell you that nothing you experience in life is insignificant. You may not see its meaning in the moment because clarity is hard to come by in the midst of chaos. When things get chaotic, we tend to get caught up in it or start running; it’s the human physiological “fight-or-flight” reaction. But trust me, everything happens for a reason. And when the dust settles and the fog clears, that reason may become more evident. When we focus on the reason more than the experience, we develop character that produces necessary change.

What you do in life says a lot more about who you are and what kind of character you have than what you say.

5 Ways to Know Your Relationship Will Fail (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 355)

“Relationships-of all kinds-are like sand held in your hand. Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is. The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers. You may hold onto some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that. Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact. But hold too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost.”
— Kaleel Jamison

We all want our relationships to be successful. But some traits and attitudes will put you on the fast track to failure. If you understand what some of those are early in life, you will be able to develop and maintain meaningful and sincere relationships at every stage of life.

If it is done in the right way, relationships are very difficult. It has great rewards as well as equally great risks. Sometimes, you have to put yourself on the line and at other times, the other person has to put himself on the line. In the give and take, you want to make sure both are done equitably. Read more…

There is nothing so fatal to character and discipline as tasks half-finished, goals half-reached, and dreams half-realized.

The Only Approval that Matters (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 206)

The Only Approval that Matters

2 Corinthians 10:18 (NLT)
When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.

From social media posts and pictures to glamour magazines to reviews, applause, and promotions, the need for approval is seemingly widespread. Even the most powerful and successful people seek commendation from their peers. But for believers, seeking the approval of people alone is dangerous. It can cause us to miss God’s perfect plan and purpose for our lives.

The Admirable Grace (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 189)

The Admirable Grace

Matthew 5:5 (NLT)
God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.

In our society, humility is greatly needed but rarely talked about. It is even more rare for one to possess it. Many people are concerned with who is right as opposed to what is right. Gentleness, meekness, and kindness — all signs of true humility — are not signs of feebleness, but of discipline and character.  Read more…

How Do You Want People to Remember You? (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 99)

How Do You Want People to Remember You

Ephesians 5:15 (NLT)
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.

Legacy is not something we think about on a regular basis. It is one of those concepts that we don’t fully understand until we are nearing the end of our lives. In reality, though, we should think about how we want to be remembered at every opportunity. One’s legacy is not formed at the end of life, it is developed throughout life. Read more…
