We Shouldn’t Be Applauded for Hurting with Those Who Hurt…That’s Our Human Duty (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 353)

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is truly heartbreaking to see so many suffering people in the world. While I know that no one person can save everybody, I do think that we are all responsible for at least making the effort to alleviate some of the burdens that other people face. No two burdens are the same because no two people actually carry them or face them in the same why. That’s why we need uniquely collective empathy and compassion. Read more…

Why We Should Be Compassionate (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 271)

why-we-should-be-compassionate

Luke 6:36 (NLT)
You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.

Jesus is the epitome of compassion and mercy. Each day we are alive is the perfect example of mercy being made evident in our lives. Sometimes, we won’t feel like being merciful or compassionate to other people. I know there are times in my own life where I allow frustration and disappointment to take over instead of showing mercy and extending compassion. It is one of the most difficult, but right decisions we can ever make. Read more…

Burdened, Tired, and Weary (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 62)

Burdened Tired and Weary

Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

We don’t have to look far to see that much of the world is burdened with cares too big for them to bear, tired from the everyday rat race and hustle, and weary from trying to do too much on its own. Ask the average person how they are doing, and the common answer you will hear is busy. They’re busy to the point of extreme fatigue, unable to carry on.

10 Reasons Why Good Friday Is So Good (40 Days of Easter Truth #38)

Easter Focus Passage: John 19:28-30

28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”

29 Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth.

30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Easter Truth – DAY THIRTY-EIGHT:

Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday, holds the complete satisfaction of God, the fulfillment of Jesus Christ, and the grace poured out for the entire world in a crucible called Calvary. The bloodied, battered, heartbroken, burdened Jesus slowly trudges up the hill, bearing a cross and the sins of the entire world on His back. If God had decided to end everything with Good Friday, then we would be men and women most miserable, living a life of ultimate despair and meaninglessness, headed straightway to an end with no hope. Jesus’ death was both the worst and the best. He died so that we may live. He bled so that we may be clean. He was made sin so we could be made righteous. Good Friday was a bad day for Jesus, but it was a good day for all for us. Read more…

6 Ways to Lighten Your Load

Life is difficult. It’s even more difficult when you are weighed down by burdens too heavy for you to bear. You were not made to carry such heavy weights in your daily life. You were created to be free both inside and out, and you have the power to make choices that will allow you to experience wholeness and fulfillment in life. Read more…

Christ Will Give You Rest

Christ Will Give You Rest

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NIV).

We live in a world that is simply not at peace. With war, violence, crime, and injustices carried out every single day, it can be easy to worry about the safety of our lives and the lives of those we love. If the problems of the world were not enough, the challenges we face individually on a daily basis can cause us to become anxious and desperate for rest and tranquility. Read more…
