The First to Move (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 350)

the-first-to-move

Ruth 1:7 (NLT)
With her two daughters-in-law she set out from the place where she had been living, and they took the road that would lead them back to Judah.

Everything we do and say is a reflection of who we really are. And no matter what roles we play in life, there is always someone, even if it is just one person, who is watching us and will be influenced for good or ill by the decisions we make and the directions we choose to take. All people are leaders in some capacity and it is important that we are aware of how we lead ourselves because there just might be one person who is following close behind. Read more…

Slow Down Long Enough to Trust (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 326)

slow-down-long-enough-to-trust

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)
Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

Society promotes fast, quick, and easy ways to do nearly anything. We fly in planes because they’re faster than cars. We go to fast food restaurants not because the food is better but because the idea is for it to be quick. We hold on to our devices tighter than our children because almost everything we need is at the click of a button. Most of us buy our food at the store instead of growing it because growing it takes too long. People are always looking for a better, faster, more efficient way to get projects done or to obtain services. Read more…

Finding Your Life by Focusing on the Creator (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 309)

finding-your-life-by-focusing-on-the-creator

Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NLT)
Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”

King Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. He lived a life that most of us today could only dream of. He had more wealth, more possessions, and more people around him than anyone else. He had even accomplished a great deal of things that would leave most people in their dreams. He could obtain anything a man could ever want and go wherever a man could ever dream of going. This was the opulent life that Solomon was blessed to live. Read more…

Past and Gone (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 208)

Past and Gone

Philippians 3:13 (NLT)
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…

Do you find yourself thinking or talking about the past? Have you ever had a wise friend to tell you it’s best to let it go? Do you worry about what happened years ago to the neglect of what is happening now or could happen in the future? The past is part of our lives but it should not be intended to control our lives.  Read more…

Freedom from Inferiority and Competition (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 97)

Freedom from Inferiority and Competition

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Inferiority and competition (the unhealthy) kind causes us to miss God’s best for our lives. Others may seem as though they are more talented or have more skills than we do. In reality, that is not the case. God created us to be His masterpiece, fully equipped to do the good things He has set for us to do.  Read more…

Crowned with Love (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 16)

Crowned with Love

Psalm 103:4 (NLT)
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.

Do you ever ask yourself what people would think if they ever found out about your past — secrets, hurts, and heartbreaks? Do you wonder what it would feel like, what kind of emotional state you would be in, if someone shined a light on all the bad parts of your life?
