There are times in all of our lives when we will feel as though we won’t make it through. The upcoming major test. The impending divorce. The two weeks notice on your house. The pink slip on your desk. The red tag on your door. The cancer diagnosis. Each of these moments fills us with anxiety, frustration, and even anger. That’s it’s all not happening like we think it should. That it’s been a waste of time. That it’s unfair. Read more…

Let Go and Get to the End (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 335)

let-go-and-get-to-the-end

Philippians 3:14 (NLT)
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

We only have a limited amount of time, money, resources, and energy to do what we have been called to do in this life. Too often, we allow ourselves to get focused on what is behind us, what we have been through or are going through at the present moment, how someone has or is treating us or saying about us, or the environment in which we were brought up in, keep us back from focusing on the right things. Job 5:2 (NLT)
Surely resentment destroys the fool, and jealousy kills the simple.

Resentment is a potent mix of anger, fear, and disappointment. And in some regard, it is healthy to do so, but holding on to those feelings only hurts us. Read more…

Proverbs 29:11 (NLT)
Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

There are a host of things you can’t control in this life. You can’t control the color of your school, where you were born, or who your parents are. You can’t control what happens to you on a daily basis, what people say or think, or the situations you encounter. You also can’t control the way you look, how tall or short you are, or your past. Many people waste time trying to control the things and the people that are simply beyond their power. Read more…

The Poisonous Roots (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 217)

The Poisonous Roots

Hebrews 12:15 (NLT)
Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

Have you ever met a person who is filled with bitterness to the point that it influences everybody around them? Well, that’s how bitterness works. It is contagious. It is a controlling mechanism that quickly poisons everyone who encounters it. When one becomes bitter, it is very hard to break through with grace and love. Read more…
