We Knows He Hears Us and He Answers (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 354)
1 John 5:15 (NLT)
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
One of the most frustrating things in the world is to ask for something and never get it. God knows that his children want to receive an answer to their requests. Scripture tells us that since we know God hears us, we can also be assured that he will answer us and give us what we ask.
The enemy of our souls will try to make us think prayer is a waste of time. You’re praying about something and the devil comes alongside to whisper in your ear, ‘Prayer doesn’t really work. What do you think you’re doing. God is not going to listen to you. Get up and go to work. Find something better to do with your time than on your knees.’
But what Scripture says is far more powerful than what the devil has to say. Prayer works because God says it works and because God is in control. We have to trust God’s wisdom and goodness that he will do what his in his best interest for us. He may not answer our requests immediately or when we think he should but he never fails to give an answer at the appointed time.
First John 5:15 states, “And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.” God can do anything that we have faith enough to ask for. His resources are not limited. He regards it as a high honor to come before his throne and ask him to fill our needs and grant us our heart’s desires. It is a burden lifted to know that nothing is in my control; it is all under God’s control. I cannot change any situation in my human strength, but I can make my requests known to God and trust him to change it.
God is willing to do whatever we are willing to ask for in faith and trust him to accomplish. This means we have to let go of the steering wheel and let him do the driving. We have to take a seat on the passenger’s side and let him be the pilot. We know that God hears us because he is true and he keeps his promises and we know that he gives to us based upon our asking because he said he would.
“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there’s nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.”
