God’s Got This (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 314)
Psalm 103:19 (NLT)
The Lord has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything.
Why do we sometimes get sad and disappointed when we fail or when things don’t go our way? It’s because we hate to lose. It’s never easy to lose a fight especially when you worked so hard and put all your time, effort, money, and talent into it to make it go right. But after the elections of 2016 that is how over half the nation is feeling right now. That feeling of being defeated is settling in and it is making people feel sad and scared.
While many are indeed celebrating the victory of the one who is presumably the 45th president of the United States, many others are not. However, you need to know something about elections and about anything else that goes on in your life that may not go as you have planned: God is still on the throne. He rules over everything. And no matter what happens today, tomorrow, or four years from now, God’s got this under his control.
Yes, God’s got you in the palm of his hand. God’s got everything about you on his mind. God’s got the world we live in under his control. God’s got your family and friends, your co-workers and neighbors by his grace. Nothing catches God off guard or by surprise. He is not concerned about the direction or condition of the world because he is in control of the world and the person who is in control is most likely not worried because it is going to go the way he says.
Don’t allow the enemy or the culture to dictate your faith or cause you to give in to fear, hate, division, and despair. Whether it is during an election season or in the everyday gist of life, you are loved and cherished, you are valued and worthy because God says you are. His promises do not change with the times. Winning for the believer is not dictated by poll numbers, voters, or an electoral college. We win when we choose to trust God, obey God, seek God’s will, and follow the plan he has established for us.
We can move forward from any defeat or any negative outcome with grace because we are God’s children, we are in God’s will, and God is within us. The manmade political process isn’t what makes the difference in this world. It is people — ordinary people like you and me — who choose to be faithful to God’s commands and who choose to trust in his promises. You don’t have to be afraid. You don’t have to worry about anything. True power exists in the One who never leaves the throne. God’s got this.
“There were so many things going on inside me and on the outside—many beyond my control. However, one thing I could control was to pray and commit myself every day to trust God so He could guide me.”
