I Am Life (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 290)

John 11:25-26a (NLT)
Jesus told her [Martha], “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.”

When we talk about and tell about why we choose to believe in Jesus Christ, several words may come to mind. For example, we may think about his love for us. We may talk about his grace and mercy and how it is all a gift to us. We may even consider the historical fact that he was sent from heaven to earth as a baby to save all of mankind from our sins. Some think about the miracles he worked; others think about the strength he personally gives.

Whatever you think of Jesus, there are many benefits to believing in him and developing a relationship with him. The biggest benefit of all though is that if you believe in him, you are guaranteed to have life in the here and now and life throughout all of eternity. When you think of Jesus, you think of his resurrection and the life that is now ours because of him. Jesus makes our future in eternity both safe and secure.

What Jesus wants you and I to know today is that He is life. No matter where you go in the world, who you are, or what you have, true life exists by having Jesus in your heart. His resurrection proves that death is not the end of the story. Death is just the beginning to a new life that couldn’t be experienced otherwise. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, we would have no true hope for the future.

What Jesus tells Martha is a promise. He assures her true life now and life beyond death. He kept his promises to her and he will keep his promise to us. The only qualification you need to receive is belief. Believe that Jesus is who he says he is and choose to open your heart to his grace and salvation. There is nothing to lose; there is everything to gain.

“True faith means holding nothing back. It means putting every hope in God’s fidelity to His promises.”
