Fear No One but the King (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 220)
Psalm 25:12 (NLT)
Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
Too many people fear other human beings. They fear what others will say or what others will think of them or even what others can do to them. But the Bible commands us to fear no one but the King — God Almighty. And our lives are so much better when we do.
For the believer, God promises to guide those who fear him. Fear in this context does not mean that we are afraid of God. It simply means that we revere him, respect him, and honor him with our lives. We live in awe of what he can do and what he has done in our hearts and mind. This healthy respect for God’s authority drives us to get in line behind his plan for us.
If you’re wondering what path to take or which direction to go in, turn your attention to God. Make sure you have your heart set on following him and that you have a healthy awareness of his presence and fear of his power. Ask him for the humility to follow whatever path he lays out before you. Embrace his discernment to see the wisdom in the place he is leading you to.
“When men don’t fear God, they give themselves to evil.”
