Perfect Love (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 210)
1 John 4:18 (NLT)
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.
Fear is a very powerful emotion and something that all of us struggle with at one point or another. It can keep us confined to present situations and hinder us from experiencing the life God wants us to live. If there is one things that holds believers back from moving forward in faith, it is fear. In the hand of the enemy, fear keeps us from surrendering to God.
Many people never fulfill God’s plan for their lives because they fear what the next step may be or how much they have to give up in service. The good news is that fear does not have to control our lives. It doesn’t have to dominate us. We can choose to let the love of God rule our lives. God’s love is perfect and when His love is in our hearts, it replaces and overpowers all fear.
Fear and love cannot coexist. If love is in the driver’s seat, fear cannot be pushing the vehicle. But if fear is in the driver’s seat, love has no room to operate. Instead of letting your emotions run wild and take on a life of their own, set your mind and you heart in the right place. Stabilize yourself in the perfect love that God has for you. Where there is no fear, there can also be love.
“Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not.”
— C.S. Lewis
