Blessings Depend on Obedience (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 205)

Blessings Depend on Obedience

Isaiah 41:13 (NLT)
For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’

One of the most coveted things in the world is power. The ability to control, command, or dominate something or someone often makes us feel as though we are strong and indestructible. But with power comes a great deal of risk and responsibility. Risk and responsibility that can become something to big for our small shoulders to bear. God has the broad shoulders and the big heart to stand up under anything.

When we try to take control of our lives, we take the power out of God’s hands to do the supernatural work that only he can do. We tell ourselves that we are the regulators of our lives, our agendas, and our futures. Do we really have control over our lives as much as we want? Think about how someone can say something cross to us and it changes our attitude and outlook on the day. If things and people can change us that quickly, we don’t have as much control as we like to think we have.

Above everything else, God wants obedience and surrender from us. He promises us in the Bible that if we obey him and trust him with our whole hearts, he will bestow upon us blessings beyond our imagination. What are the results of an obedient life? It is blessings beyond measure. The more we release control and power in our lives to God, the wider we open the door for him to take us further than we ever thought we could go. The blessings we receive depend on how much control we let God have in our lives.

“The greatness of the man’s power is the measure of his surrender.”
— William Booth
