Lukewarm Faith (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 203)
Revelation 3:15-16 (NLT)
I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!
One of the things many people dislike is cold coffee. We want our coffee to be hot. Similarly, many people find hot milk, cold food, and tepid showers to be equally as gross. We prefer cold milk, hot food, and warm to hot showers. We would be uncomfortable with anything less than this.
God feels the same way about our faith. God doesn’t want us to be lukewarm — neither cold nor hot — but just swinging in between. In everything we do, God wants us to give Him our very best. He doesn’t want us to casually serve Him or just by chance follow Him when it’s convenient. He wants all of us, every part of us to be turned over to Him.
Ask yourself if you’re living the life God wants you to live? Are you cold or hot, or just lukewarm? God doesn’t want a lukewarm faith. He wants us to trust Him and His will with all that we have and all that we are. Let God know that He can trust you to do His will and to serve Him with your whole heart. If God is your partner, give Him all the faith you have.
“The more we depend on God the more dependable we find He is.”
