The Compass Points Right (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 198)
Psalm 1:1 (NLT)
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
It has been said that one can tell a lot about a person by the type of friends he keeps. But can one tell much about your faith or lack thereof by the relationship you have with God and how it reflects in your daily interactions with others? It is nearly impossible to stay neutral when there are always two options one can choose from.
The Bible says that those who do not follow the wicked have much joy of which to speak. That joy elevates their lives and shines through even in the darkest moments. Those who do not engage in sin with other sinners are blessed because they choose instead to stand with God. They don’t join in with mockers and cynics because the blessings of God don’t reside there.
You can tell which direction in life a person is headed by who he follows, where he stands, and what he engages in. Believers follow a compass that directs them in behavior, thought, and speech and leads them into a path of everlasting joy, peace, and fulfillment. For God’s people, the compass always points right. Following God is not an occasional event but a continual dedication that keeps our feet on the ground and our hearts in the right place.
“Don’t let the rules of man stop you from following God. When He gives it to you, go with it.”
