No Law Against These Things (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 181)
Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
We are often told what we should not do, where we should not go, or what we should not say. Laws have been set in place against many things for a reason. It is the law that helps to establish boundaries in society. If the laws of the land are broken, harsh consequences for the perpetrators often follow.
But there are some things against which there is no law. These are the things that God gives us the strength and power to control. We can choose to love, embrace joy, have peace, be patient, be kind, be good, be faithful, be gentle, and practice self-control. No law keeps us back from doing these things. When we understand who we are in Christ and the value He places on our souls, it is a little easier to have these things in our lives.
God gives us room to grow into the people He wants us to be. Not room to sin, but room to do His perfect and good will. Wherever you focus your attention, there will your mind and heart be as well. Submit your mind and body to the things that have no law and choose to live in the brilliance of God’s righteousness and peace.
“Fruit is always the miraculous, the created; it is never the result of willing, but always a growth. The fruit of the Spirit is a gift of God, and only He can produce it. They who bear it know as little about it as the tree knows of its fruit. They know only the power of Him on whom their life depends.”
