Getting Your Mindset Right

What do you think it takes to achieve your goals? Some people would say hard work. Others would say one has to have talent. Still other people might say that it takes a lot of action or having a good support group. And even more people would say that attending a seminar by a popular guru will do the trick.

While these things are important to being successful in reaching our goals, there is one thing that is even more important. It is mindset. We won’t achieve anything without first believing that we can. The best support group can be within reach but they won’t be able to help us unless we have the right mindset about the goals we are trying to achieve.

As humans, naturally we tend to look at things through dark glasses. Our normal outlook is negative when it comes to our hopes and dreams. But this is where the boys and girls are separated from the men and women. If you are prone to seeing the glass half empty then you will take that same approach when it comes to your dreams and goals.

Successful people and productive people don’t do this. They are prone to believe that they do not have any limitations. Internal forces are under their control. External forces are out of their control and so they don’t spend time worrying about them. Nothing affects them unless they allow it.

And it is the allowing of limitations that keeps us back from getting to where we really want to be in life. Most of our goals are not realized yet, not because they can’t be but because we have the mentality that we will believe it when we see it happen. The more you can see your goals in your mind’s eye, the more real they become to you.

If our mindsets are focused on our goals not being reachable than we probably won’t achieve them. Mindset powers our limiting beliefs about ourselves. It also powers our faith in the attainability of our goals and dreams. The real catch here is that you are in control of your mindset. You have to intentionally set your mind where you want to go and make special effort that it stays the course.
