A World Out of Control (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 172)
2 Thessalonians 2:13 (NLT)
As for us, we can’t help but thank God for you…that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth.
So many of us take our cues about God and faith from culture. We listen to news shows and read political websites that offer a very different perspective. The media spins stories over and over again to get us to buy into a variety of angles. Much of it is an attempt to get us focused on the wrong things — things that have no eternal value.
Take a minute to reflect on what and why you believe what you do about God. If you believe what the Bible says about Him, listening to much of what the world says can cause you to doubt who He is. A world without God at the helm becomes a world out of control. And a world out of control is an increasingly dangerous world.
As believers, we know that God is ultimately in control of the affairs of the world and in the lives of mankind. While life as we know it ebbs and flows against the rising current of culture, God remains the same. He is the only true constant and what He says is all truth. Ask God to help you guard your heart and mind against the hype of culture. Let Him guide you to base your life in His truth and love.
“Many are in a battle, for no other reason than they refuse to conform to the kingdom culture.”
