3 Whole Signs You’re Doing Just Fine (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 153)

3 Whole Signs You’re Doing Just Fine

“Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.”
— Alexander Pope

There are few things in the world that consist of deep and consistent beauty. The first I think is the smile of a baby. The second I think is the innocent mischievousness of a little child. The third I think is a soul that never ceases to be on fire. If you have seen the first two and possess the last, you are doing just fine in life.

Here are 3 signs you’re doing just fine:

1. You don’t wait for a sign. Sure, there are times when a delay is warranted due to lack of necessary information, people, money, or resources. But you are comfortable making decisions — going with what you know and have — without receiving a sign. In things that you can control, it is far better to shape the outcome than to be ruled by it.

2. You have realistic expectations. This goes for things, people, careers, education, and situations. You don’t produce a boatload of tears when something doesn’t go as you thought it should or someone doesn’t do what you think they should do. The less expectations you have, especially of things and people, the more joy and peace will exist in your life.

3. You communicate. Among the many major fails of human beings is the disconcerting fact that no one can really read your mind. While it isn’t always overlookable, you are doing just fine if you learn to communicate your wants, needs, and wishes and let go when people forget to do what they say or fail to keep their word.

“I find my life is a lot easier the lower I keep my expectations.”
— Bill Watterson
