Wisdom Listens (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 150)
Proverbs 12:15 (NLT)
Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.
Wouldn’t it be great if we all could have our own minds, make our own decisions, and go down our own paths without having to consult with or seek advice from anyone? It’s a nice thought that smacks heavily of fierce independence. But what happens when our own way becomes blurry and we wonder where we are and why we’re actually here?
This is why God allows people to enter into our lives to help us make the right decisions, and even to show us the way in which we should go. King Solomon admonishes us to be wise, ask questions, and seek to hear and understand advice given to us by those who have our best interests at heart. When we listen to God, trust His word, and obey His will, He reveals to us the way we should go.
If you’ve been caught up in pursuing your way over God’s way or beating your head against the wall trying to put your plans into action, it might be time for you to rethink and reconsider your ways. Ask God to show you what is best and then be willing to listen for His answer. Listening involves not only the ears, but more importantly, the heart. Lay aside your pride, be wise, and let God guide you in His perfect way.
“To believe one does not need counsel is great pride.”
— Basil the Great
