We Are All Family (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 139)
3 John 5 (NLT)
Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you.
No matter who we are, what we look like, or where we come from, we are all family. And family is always there for each other. God has called us to be brothers and sisters in Christ. We don’t have to know every detail of each other’s lives to be knit together in love and service.
Have you ever done something for someone who you didn’t know? Have you ever gone the extra mile for a person you just met, a long-lost friend, a newcomer to your church? Whether you know it or not, your help and attitude of love and service had an impact upon that person.
Stepping out of your comfort zone to extend a helping hand to a perfect stranger will strengthen your faith. It will not only bless the other person, but will bless you in amazing ways. Take time to find a need in someone’s life you don’t know and fill it. Be aware of your environment and considerate of the people around you. At the end of the day, we are all as close to a stranger as we are to a friend.
“We rise by lifting others.”
