Who’s Calling the Shots? (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 131)
Acts 1:8a (NLT)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
Too often, we can be found guilty of trying to run the show of our lives. We want to be the ones who are called upon. We fight to be in control of every situation. We focus on being the person who calls the shots and makes all the decisions. We like to take every opportunity to be in the front of the line, at the top of leadership, and the center of attention.
The reality is we are not as important as we think we are. As much as we hate to admit it, we are not in control of everything. There are things that are simply bigger than us. God is all powerful. God is the only One who can be in control of everything all at the same time. Because God is the only One with the right to call the shots, we would do ourselves a favor to give Him every bit of control.
God is so sovereign in His approach to life that He allows us the privilege to trust Him. We can’t trust everybody but God lets us depend on Him. When we let go of our need to be in control, we can embrace the opportunity to experience life under God’s control. Faith is not blind trust. Faith is trust with abandon in a God who knows what is best for us. Ask God to help you let go and be content to let Him guide your life.
“Anything under God’s control is never out of control.”
