3 Practical Signs You’re Moving Forward

“Life is the sum of all your choices.”
— Albert Camus

Not knowing where one is going will result in mediocre results. An unclear idea of what you are intending to do will impede your ability to move forward. Clarity where you are now makes executing every step, no matter how small or large it is, much easier to accomplish. Moving forward requires motivation and a firm idea of where you are going and why you are going there will keep you making progress.

Here are three more signs you’re moving forward in life even if you don’t feel it:

1. When you give up the need to always be in control. The range of our power is severely limited. In fact, in many cases, it’s almost non-existent. There are some situations that are simply beyond our human capacity to handle. Thankfully, you aren’t oblivious to that fact or bitter about it. When you’re not in control, you’re completely fine with the knowledge that sometimes letting go is the best thing you can do.

2. When you cease to believe you are infallible. You don’t allow praise to go to your head or criticism to go to your heart. Acknowledging faults and weaknesses is accepting our human state. When we accept what we cannot change, we knock ourselves down off of the pedestals that we have put ourselves on or allowed others to put us on. You’ve realized that it is healthy to understand that all people make mistakes.

3. When you stop making decisions on what you don’t know. Jumping to conclusions inevitably leads to making bad decisions. Good decisions are almost always preceded by serious thought and constructive planning. You have learned that you cannot make decisions upon what you do not know. And instead of just not knowing, you aim to gather information, discover the unknowns, and through patience make the right decision.

“From a worldly point of view, there is no mistake so great as that of being always right.”
— Samuel Butler
