Have you ever run into someone you hadn’t seen in a long time and realized what a contrast there is between you? We are around ourselves every day, every minute of the day that many times, we can’t see how far along we have come. Sometimes it takes being around someone you used to hang with to see that you really have changed a lot. There is a big difference between you and the other person. So don’t give up on your journey. Little by little, you are making progress.
Here are three more signs you’re moving forward in life even if you don’t feel it:
1. When you focus more on others instead of yourself. The goal of life should never be “me” but “them.” The biblical command to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is a universally accepted rule for good karma and reciprocity. It is also essential to follow if one aims to move forward and make progress. You’ve realized that true success is not just about you; it involves other people. You have learned that you must be willing to help others reach their goals if you are to reach your own. When you take time to connect with others, you’re not just giving away some of your time, but they are giving you some of theirs. Treat people like they matter, like you care, like you are happy for them and their achievements. It will make all of the difference.
2. When you set short-term and long-term goals. Drifting or mindlessly going through life is a sure way for success to elude you. So you start each day with a plan. Your plan details your short-term goals and your long-term goals. You have taken the time to envision where you want to be tomorrow and ten years from now. You have a clear list of projects you will accomplish, people you will connect with, and time you will spend on your goals. Your vision drives you and your future looks bright.
3. When you intentionally express gratitude at every opportunity. Even with all the things we can find to complain about, life is really a series of blessings. You’ve found that out somewhere along the line and discovered that being grateful is a significant step towards progress. When you wake up and as you grow through the day, you think of things to be grateful for. When problems arise, you counter them with something that has gone well. You’ve learned that being grateful for your achievements is an important part of accomplishing more in life.
