3 Clear Signs You’re Moving Forward (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 120)

3 Clear Signs You’re Moving Forward

“Often you have to rely on intuition.”
— Bill Gates

The general trend of progress is always forward. Even if you feel as though you are taking two steps forward and three steps back sometimes, know that it is not going to be like that all the time. Progress with obstacles is better than no progress at all. Little steps are still steps. Small victories are still victories. At the end of your journey, every little bit will count. Success consists of a consistent pattern of forward-moving progress. And that’s the really important thing.

Here are three more signs you’re moving forward in life even if you don’t feel it:

1. When you let go of second-guessing your aspirations. Many people never reach their goals in life because they waste precious time questioning who they are and what they were made to do. We never get from start to finish in one swoop. Everything takes time. And it’s okay. You know that every step of the journey is meaningful no matter how small and slow it is. As you encounter little victories, you’ve learned to make changes and revisions where need be, but to never give up. You know who you are and what you were made to do. Your dream scares you a little, but that scariness produces excitement, energy, and action.

2. When you listen to the voice in your heart. Instinctively, we know what is right and ethical for most major life decisions. Our heart usually pulls us toward the answer, the solution, or the new idea. While making big decisions are at times not easy, you’ve learned to make them easier by following your intuition, your instincts, and your heart. When our hearts are in the right place, it is easier for our minds and bodies to follow. Instead of deliberating, second-guessing, and procrastinating when you know the right answer, you are quick to not hold back and to go with the best direction when the inner voice of intuition and sanity is beckoning you to go there.

3. When you take responsibility for making your own life choices. Everyone seems to have an opinion about how you should live your life. Usually, these opinions are unsolicited advertisements and advice columns. But no one is going to take responsibility for the decisions you make in life, nor should they be expected to. People are entitled to their beliefs, views, and experiences and how someone else chooses to live should not influence your path. You realize that while society places a colossal amount of expectations on you, you don’t have to go down any other path except the one you choose for yourself. You’ve learned to make your own choices, set your own expectations, and live your own life. And that is freedom.

“Who knows how fast a second guess can travel? Who has ever measured the exact speed of regret?”
— Karen Thompson Walker
